3870K & R9 285 OC gaming GPU

Hello,

having a couple of issues with my new build, i have took my 3870k out of my downgraded HTPC (AM1 now) and bought a R9 285 MSI GPU.

Even at its lowest settings on most games (mainly COD AW) i am unable to get no stuttering, is it something to do with my CPU or GPU or a combination of both? I will look in the future to replace the mobo and cpu but for now i should at least get something playable, right?

I have 8 GB of ram, be quiet 500w PSU and the above mentioned with a ASUS F1A55-M LX PLUS.

Any help would be good.

What resolution are you running at?

i am running at 1080p, is this the issue?

It shouldn't be. The GPU is well capable of running very high settings at 1080p, so I guess it could be something to do with the CPU, it's not the greatest but I'm not sure how bad it is to be honest.
Are you sure the display is running off the GPU and not the CPU?

how would i check this? i have a DVI cable running from GPU to the screen

its your cpu. overclock it

I think that should be fine, have you updated the drivers to the latest version?

There are more experienced people than I and I'm sure one of them will be along to help

what would recommend on FM1 chip?
