I'm surprised thought 1280x1024 all high 8xAA would be a slideshow, but it was not quite.

I was wrong!

LMAO. they aint good with AA full stop, never mind 8xAA, this is fact.

Hmm, depends. Some titles it's fine but that's older titles *(with some AA not 8xAA :p).

Recent titles then I agree AA isn't the best with the 2900's, HD3850/70's. This is why I bought the GTX as the 2900Pro (Oc'd to 847Mhz core and 1000Mhz Memory) still couldn't hold the AA performances compared to the GTX. Without AA then it's a flying card though.

I must admit I'm surprised how the 3870's handled AA in Crysis, and look at gurusan's score, his card is clocked to 3870 speeds so its pretty much a 3870 and my 8800GT overclocked aint far behind.

Go play the actual game with 8xaa and tell me how playable it is, don't go by some dodgy benchmark, i can tell you from my experiences with 8xaa all high in crysis, it is so unplayable, there is no debate.

Both of them were comparing benchmarks though and not talking about game performance?. There is NO debate :p.

how is that a "dodgy benchmark"? It's a real ingame benchmark.

Also I read somewhere that the 38xx series handles AA differently than the 2900s

Yea its true Crysis benchmark is not like 3DMark its propor in game, infact on the CPU benchmark I remember once I was actually able to take control in it and move around, dunno if it can be done now though havent tried. But yes if you were playing in game using 8xAA then it would get annoying, I wonder if 2x 3870XT can get 50fps with 8xAA in the benchmark.

This I didn't know. I thought that just FPS was up a little in some titles but nothing to do with AA.

Well I'm sure it's about 63FPS for the top HD3870's in Crossfire on the Crysis top list so I think there would be more than a 10FPS drop in total from using 8xAA.

I dont think it will handle AA differently, maybe the method of AA that Crysis uses is favoured by the ATi cards?

yeah after googling differences between the 3870 and 2900 I can't find anything regarding AA handling...so nevermind.
