3870XT Problem?

Still leaves me stuffed as to what else is going on.

Not sure if it's related, but task manager is showing 75% cpu usage, even with next to nothing going on, maybe something else is at work here.

20fps is the TOP I get, that's wandering around an area where nothing, at all, is going on. As soon as any buildings are near me it drops to around 15, and further when anything else happens. I haven't even dared go to a capital city yet!

DOwnloading 3d06 now, should be done in about 45 mintues :(

Regarding to the facts described, it should be your CPU and chipset on mobo. I had the same problem when I was playing Quake4 with my AthlonXP even I was using a 6800GT. Everytime the FPS goes down to 10, I know there's a monster coming or behind the door. It's funny, eh?:P

But after I ugraded my rig to a Athlon64 with HyperTransport supported mobo, the problem solved.

Please let me know the score after you tested on 3Dmark06:)

try a clean wow install.

if i copy my wow from desktop to laptop, change the res etc to match and play i get ~5fps. clean install, same settings = 40fps....

i have a very similar rig to yours. my somewhat hozed wow install gives me about 40fps in **** with 1600*1200*32bit, with 4xfsaa 16tap aniso maxed settings, ini = extra actors..... so sounds like something is wrong to me.

All sorted now, as far as I know! I'm a very happy person, thanks for everyone's help!

Uninstalled everything, the did a system restore, as there were still some issues, and then went from there. Getting up to 70fps now.
