3930 Cooling

Put it this way, since you're not overclocking, you don't actually need a high performance cooler but regardless of that, I assume you want something quiet. The H100 may be quiet in its lowest fan setting but something like the K2 is near silent because the fans can operate at much lower RPM. It just so happens that the K2 is also just as good in terms of cooling and much cheaper. Results in Sig. Plus the K2 has a massive base plate to accommodate the CPU. It's not just an opinion.

The fans on the k2 are incredibly quiet, currently running at 700 rpm here. Even under load, the noise isnt very loud.

Thanks for the link Helios - I must confess I entirely missed it when reading your first post.

Will give that article a good read.

You hit the nail on the head in that I am not overclocking and as long as the cooling is good I'm not fussed how it is achieved.

Argh so much choice, need to read the full review :)

setter - what CPU is that on? ** d'oh should have read your signature first before asking **

Had a quick skim of the review etc and it looks and sounds very good - scary how big it is, I hope to god socket 2011 and the backplate are strong!

I have a i7 3960x overclocked to 4.2 ghz with a rebranded Antec Kúhler H2O 920 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler, and i added an extra fan to that setup for a push pull effect and im getting between 62-68c on all my cores with ibt or prime running for about half an hour or more.
Which im quite happy with easy to install aswell, i think these cpu's run slightly hotter than the 2k chips anyway also this setup is quite quiet. Id recomend it anyway

Edit:- also my standard temps (web/msn/etc) are around 25c, and it doesnt go above 50c gaming

Really pleased with it. Better than my previous prolimatech super mega, it required rather loud high speed fans. The mounting bracket is very well thought out, and very sturdy.
