:(Hi there,

Im tryin to set up this wireless router (3COM Office Connect ADSL Wireless Router 11g) p/n 3CRWDR100A-72 for my parents and Im stuck at the first stage of just being able to config the damn thing.

I have the router plugged into the laptop via Patch cable which im pretty sure is not a crossover because it would say on it wouldnt it ? Anyway, when it is plugged in, windows states the connection has Limited or No Connectivity. The green light on LAN Stauts is on, as is, Power and WLAN, Typing in the ip to config the router doesnt work (192.168.1.1.) and i have tried connecting via another laptop to see if it was this laptop which had the problem.

Also tried connecting via the WiFi but that is the same issue of being Limited or No Connectivity.

Really not a clue what i can do now. Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks
Nick

Is DHCP enabled on the router? What IP address is the LAN interface on your laptop getting when you connect it to the router?

If it's not getting an address from the router (or rather getting one beginning 169) try assigning one manually to the LAN interface.

IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Then try browsing to the routers admin pages again.

I have the same router.

Have you tried resetting the router to defaults via the small "pin" size hole?

Yep used the rest button numerous times, with no luck. Daegan i had tried manually assigning an IP but still no luck, it just times out when i try to ping it. I've come back home now and told the parents to get a familty friend to look at it, maybe its a duff router, not sure, but either way I was lost for ideas as to get it to work. :P
