Tried the whole 3D thing before, but got bored and sent it back because I didnt play games/ watch movies at the time, so didnt really get the use out of it.
Also I didnt really research into the fact that AMD 3D compatible monitors were few and far between.

Now my B-day is coming up and I have no idea what I want, so thought I could try the whole 3D thing again

Now after a look at the AMD recommended monitors
List here for future reference

Now I want the Samsung S23A950D, or the 27" model, curves be sexy.

Dont fancy Nvidia, but if push comes to shove, would it be more benefical to swap my HD7950 for a GTX670 and go Nvidia 3D?

Thoughts?

tri-def seems to be fairly mature these days with fairly broad support for new games. (AMD HD3D IMO the less said the better).

I would say if you are serious about 3D then the nVidia option is a better one as they have a bit more clout with developers and frequent updates to support new titles - but IMO 3D isn't much more than a gimmick and most people IMO will just stop bothering with it after a few days/weeks so I'd just stick with what you have GPU wise rather than spend out extra money especially for 3D.

I needed that.....have my mam and gf barking at me saying I dont need it, I dont listen.
Some randomer says no, I listen straight away :p

Thanks :)

Samsung S23A950D + tridef + 6000/7000 series AMD cards seems to get fairly favorable responses - I've not tried tridef myself in around 2 years or so and back then it was somewhat lacking in software support but appears it properly supports a good selection of mainstream titles these days.

Sorry thought you were meaning you'd decided to stick with what you've got GPU wise and go with one of the samsung panels that works well with tri-def/HD3D rather than spend a load of extra money moving over to a 3D Vision based setup.

IMO something like the Samsung S23A950D is very worth having if you do a lot of gaming due to how smooth 120Hz is and has the side effect that you can do 3D if you really want to - again tho I'm of the opinion its not worth spending extra money on the basis of 3D alone.
