3D Bluray Combo or Not upgrade time as intermittent fault.

My LG BH16NS40 drive has started to fail only on 3D Blurays . It does not recognise them at all when put in the drive. So don't even get to PowerDVD as PC sees no Disc.
PC see's drive as a HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH16NS40. Says "No Disc in Drive" when i try 3d Blu-Ray's. Not all but about 66% of the time certain 3D's only.

So not sure if this is new feature of 3D BLURAYS to stop playing in PC's or if drive now faulty.

So exploring Options.
Need a good value BUT reliable Bluray Read/Writer. DL and maybe XDL.


So many out there to choose spend hours looking trough them all.
Has anyone got recommendations that would be compatible with windows 8 and windows 10 64bit Pro.

Also do you think combo is better compared to two separate drives a plain dvd read/writer and a blu ray only read/writer.
Please your views are welcome while i continue reading online review.

Also has anyone else started to experience issues with pc not seeing 3D blurays recently.

Are you sure it's not the discs themselves OP if it's only certain films? Have you tried them in a different bluray player?

firmware is upto date and the blu ray discs do play on normal bluray players but not on internal blu ray and always seems to be 3d blu rays or could it be as they seem to have fuller writes to disc.
