Hi,

I would like to get into 3d gaming however currently have a q6600 @ 3.6 (P5Q DLX) and a 5850.

Now, I would like to upgrade my system and budget isn't an issue, other than noise and heat and make sensible purchase.

Do I upgrade to 570 or 580 (with new monitor) and if I go for SLI (with i7-2600K) maybe 2x480s?

The resolution is going to be 1920x1080 for gaming. (while I will still use the other monitor when I'm working).

Also I do have a pretty big case even if 6 years old (Lian-Li full tower), so space isn't going to be an issue.

Thanks.

P

If budget isnt an issue then Id get a 580, plus the proper active glasses, and decent 3d monitor, no need for i7 if its just for gaming though, stick to i5 2500k, get yourself a decent 1000W PSU then if you do need to add a 2nd 580 in SLi in a coupla years this route will still be open to you (dont forget to get SLi mobo too)

Thnx for the info

When you mean active glasses, something like the Nvidia 3d vision package or the Samsung SSG-2100AB\X? (which is cheaper it seems).

(Please note I wear normal glasses too).

All 3d glasses shiuld fit over ur prescriprion ones.
I THINK that samsung isnt full hd. Id go for 1920x1080 and afaik the nvidia glassess are pretty decent

a single gtx 580 is enough for great performance in 3D, i'm using a 2500k + gtx 480 and can play all games ( that work well in 3D) just fine, gonna get 560 sli though anyway to make sure future titles run fine too

sorry to hijack the thread but if I was to get the cheap sammy 22 inch which I believe is 1680x1050 res, would a gtx 275 sli setup cut the mustard with current titles with most the eye candy on? Also I'm looking forward to the new batman game too or would I be better off selling my cards and putting the money towards a single 580?

I had a go on a 3d setup the other day and tomb raider underworld looked fantastic in 3d, im tempted but just cant justifiy buying a new monitor, glasses and replacing my 6970 which is only a few weeks old
