3D Modelling Application?

I'm looking for a 3D modelling application to do some designing on - can someone tell me of a good'un?

Something reasonably easy to use / user-friendly which gives good control over what's going on..? Something that doesn't just seem like a program covered in random buttons where you need a qualification to understand what's what.

If it was that easy then anyone could do it. I use lightwave but the free program Blender (www.blender.org) is excellent. Wings3d is ok.

Others include Maya, 3d Studio Max, Cinema 4d, XSI, Modo, Hexagon, Rhino
