3D Sketchbook thread?

The Spitfire and Ferrari were done with Lightwave 7, the phone was done with a trial version of Modo. Modo was pretty intuitive to use after Lightwave, the modelling tools are very similar.

Cheers Firthy! It only shows the front because I never finished the rest before the demo expired:o

Here's something a bit more recent..

Apologies for the size.

This is the end result of my role (CAD Driver) in my 3rd year aircraft design process. No where near the realism of the images already posted here but it was made using Autodesk Inventor 2010, primarily for the engineering drawing outputs over the realistic renders.

Took a LONG time, but mainly because as our team went through the design process, things would change on a daily basis. Considering I had barely any experience and I lack artistic talent I'm quite proud :D

Nice shifty. Wish I could do face modelling. Tried many times but dont seem to ever get it right. So I stick with particles and interiors.

Here's one I did for my Modelling & Animation CA at Uni. All done in Blender. This module was the one I enjoyed the most, and didn't mind doing the work of.

Looking at it compared to some in here its not that great, but I think I did a good job...
I would've been better but I didn't have the time to use a lot of subdivision as at the time I only had a dual core... so rendering took years as it is, also it was done at 720 which didn't help matters.

Heres the video of the finished CA.

I'm the opposite...building a fountain for example would just baffle me! I wouldn't know where to begin. My present opinion when it comes to interiors and hard surfaces is that they require a much thorough knowledge of the software and the tools/techniques?

Still, I'd love to give it a go :p

Here is a dress I was making over November/December, there's a body with it too but I usually keep it hidden when working on the clothing. I started work on the UVW maps and textures, but then started to lose interest in character modelling since everyone seems to puke at characters not made with zbrush these days :( I should get around to finishing it at some point, but for now I am having a try at doing environments instead and quite enjoying it :)

Shifty what did you use to do that bust? I've tried things like that before but it looked a mess, unless I can make it out of basic geometric shapes its a no go.

anywho, heres a watering can i made today, again in solidworks.

Bust was made in Cinema 4D :)

I poly model. I start every model with a plane object divided into 4 segments then build from there.

The face was subdivided in zbrush a good few times to add the finer details, like eye brows, dimply bits and collar bone.

Very amature I know, but I've been tinkering in train simulation bits and bobs for over 11 years now :)
These are a couple of screenshots from my unreleased OpenBVE project:

Could I also suggest a max of 800x600 with clickable thumbs if you need bigger??

Cheers
