I need to make a spinning globe but have no idea how.

It's going to go on a website, so needs to be either gif or flash.

The globe will probably be blue and have solid white continents on it and sparse vertical/horizontal grid lines, spinning to show all the continents (just so you know what I'm trying to do).

I've never done this before, so any tips?
Can you suggest an application I can do this with?

Cheers :D

It doesn't need to be interactive, no... Just whatever looks best really!

I'm not sure exactly how to make it, because of the verticle grid lines on the sphere that've gotta spin too, so they have to curve along with the sphere if you get what I mean.

here's one i made (googled) earlier

no vertical grid lines but it's a start

Yeah, thats what I was thinking... but the vertical lines on the grid i rekon will be hard - 'cos theyll have to bend at the right angles to make it look truley circle, if you get what I mean? So I was thinking maybe actually modelling it in 3D then exporting that to gif or flash... Either that or mess about with verticle lines for a few hours!

Was also thinking about how I'd make the countries look like they're spinning, rather than scrolling horizontally - so the ones at the top are at an angle when they spin rather than the whole map of the planet just being flat.
