I can't say that I enjoy it too much. 3D glasses on top of normal glasses just aren't that comfortable for me and I tend to get a headache if used for too long. Toy story 3 is an example of where it worked tho.

3D for the sake of 3D is awful.

I can take it or leave it....i have a 3D Panasonic plasma at home, 46" and ive got Avatar and Transformers both in 3D...enjoyed them both but as i said i can take it or leave it.

Same with the cinema, its not worth the few extra quid but depending on how i feel ill either watch the movie in 3D or 2D. Some movies give me a headache though and my missus is pretty much the same as well.

Done right, it is fantastic. Done wrong and it is pointless waste of money.

One thing I really enjoyed in 3D was Black Ops, its a great game anyway, but in 3D it was fantastic :)

Really, I've just googled and I can see it available in 2d. Unless you mean the 12.01am releases?

that's the one i'm going to see; although i read somewhere (possibly the prometheus thread) that ridley was now bumming 3d so hard he didn't want the film shown in 2d or something to that effect...

e: you up for watching it with me and a few mates btw dude?

I heard about that rumour, so emailed my local Odeon, they replied and said that they havent got any timeline on when or if they will be showing it in 2D :(

that's the cinema we've got in bath too - i haven't seen any listing for 2d there, so i'll just have to put up with a headache.

saying that though; i went to vue @ longwell green last week to watch the new avengers - the vue app told me only 3d was available... we got there and sure enough, there was a 2d showing :/

Poll added.

And for my money it's not really worth it, if I'm with people who want to see the film in 3D then that's fair enough but I don't think it makes enough of a difference for me to go out of my way to watch in 3D.

Definite meh.

Case in point, I watched Kung Fu Panda 2 on Sky today and, although it was in 2D, it was obviously intended as a 3D vehicle. Looked ridiculous and detracted from what was otherwise an enjoyable film.

One thing I like about movies shot with 3D in mind such as resident evil - the action scenes especially have a better feel of "depth" and intimacy to them and are often longer continous takes rather than the quick cuts and edits that have become the normal, gives movies a much more visceral quality when viewed in 2D wish more directors/producers would do it (but only when done properly not gimmicky as mentioned above).

When the film is made FOR 3D then yes, otherwise generally no unless it's something that will take advantage of it really well (a lot of sci-fi).
For home: NO. (IMO)

Big meh from me and pretty much every single person in my Film and TV class (with the exception of one guy who figures the more it is used for dramas and comedies the more it'll be innovated and thus accepted, but that's rubbish) but it won't go away any time soon.

Got a new ES8000 and left the glasses in the box. TBH smart TVs on the whole do my head in. I want a dumb TV with lots of HDMI ports, NO TUNERS of any kind and an exceptional quality screen.

I personally feel that makes them worse.

Resident Evil was all about the 3D just for the sake of it, they were advertising the fact it was 3D more than the film itself and why I should go see it. If you watch the 2D version of the film, you can see all the parts which were deliberately shot in 3D super slo-mo, but in 2D they just look silly and drawn out. The shower fight in particular is one that springs to mind.

I think a better question might be whether people would want to go see the 3D version if it was the same price as the 2D?
