Cannot get 3D Mark to run on 64bit Vista, says it cant find the file D3DX9, which is DirectX 9, but dont Vista come with that already? or DX10?? would it be safe to install the latest DirectX 9 on Vista?

With me is the same for the 2006 version.

I´v installed the last X-Fi beta driver of Creative and when start play 3dmark it says that it can´t found de Open-Al driver and don´t want work (when of course the driver is installed).

The problem is that 3D Mark is searching for the old sound Direct-X driver included in version 9c and as every one knows this sound driver was cleared from the new DirectX 10.

Cleary it´s an issue of incompatibility in the 3dmark program for the x64 version of vista, at the moment i didn´t try with de X86 but i think the problem is the same cause the problem is in the old Direct sound driver included in DirectX 9c.

Who knows maybe in some days-mounths Futuremark launch some upgrade to resolve this issue until this i think we must wait.

Also:

Sorted it,

Nope,

06 works fine with Vista 64 Bit,

Just reinstall open GL and make sure you have the latest 06 Patch Installed.

i´ll do it again but i´m afraid that again don´t work, cause i do the same reinstall the Open-Al driver and didn´t work at all, the next way i´ll try to download the driver directly from creative and i´ll try to install independent of the other drivers.

I´v the last Creative Beta driver from 28-12-2006, and the 3D Mark Version is the last version 1.1.0 so i think the problem maybe is with the old direct 3d Sound included in directX 9c, of course i´m not sure and the problem is in the creative drivers.

The worst thing is that afther near of 6 mounths 2 betas and 2 Release candidate of Vista, Creative still don´t give us full driver support for this products as Amd-Ati with his Radeon products.

What driver version are you using?

If you follow the instructions on the link i gave you and reinstall open GL it will work.

I'm using the same driver. In Vista 64 BIT so I know it works :)

GFX driver?

I´v an Ati Radeon X1900GT with the last Ati driver 7.1 dowmnloaded from yesterday and it works great.

i´v installed too the last Ati demos (Assans creed, Toy shop, etc)and of cours Half Life 2 with the last upgrades runing in 64bit mode and it looks and sound great.

the only problem i´v at the moment is with 3dmark and quake 4(i try to install with the last patch 1.3 upgrade and it didn´t work, the screen freeze downloading the first menu)

easyrider i have an 8800GTX like you and a x-fi. and EVGA board... but whenever i run anything 3D, even the windows games like chess, the PC will crash and recover, and in the taskbar i get a message saying the video hardware driver stopped working. I'm using the x64 100.54 drivers. Any ideas??

I've tried uninstalling all software and soundcard drivers, reinstalling 100.54, trying 100.30 drivers, but nothing works.

Have you tried disconnecting one of your monitors and trying again? It's a wild guess, but maybe the drivers for multiple monitors haven't matured enough yet.

God, I get that constantly! I am glad (in a way) that its not just me!(feel sorry for you though!) It makes vista virtually unusable at times. Even rolling back to microsifts drivers wont help.

On the problem reporting page (496 problems reported) it gives a solution to the issue and a link which is dead! The solution is to update the driver! Which ofcourse isnt ready yet. It also said to try the update site, so I did to get BSOD!
