3Dmark06 CPU part

I have to admit that graphics advances always amaze me. I remember programming simple games on my Spectrum and thinking "one day it will be like you are really there"! Nowadays each advance gets closer to that "cinamatic" look and I just feel that since CS Source things have slowed up a bit in games or perhaps my perception of change is marred by the subtleties my old eyes can't pick out :(
Then I saw deep freeze and thought the snow blowing across and the lighting were stunning, especially when you consider the smooth speed it renders at!

However I dont think ive seen a game that looks as nice at the 03 nature test and that was 3 years ago. probably another 4 before we see things like deep freeze in games :(

I have to say, I miss the 'Nature' test. Both the one in 01 and 03 looked great (although they probably killed whatever cards were avail at the time - or close to it).

that merry go round thing with 8 lights ran about as fast as the cpu mark in 06!

1895 @ 2.55Ghz dual core.

What processor are you running?

I just tested my x2 4400 @ 2.4Ghz and it got 1836. I know its lower but I would have expected a lot bigger jump than that, say about 2000 (I tested it at 2.3 just before and got 1728, 100 different)

Opteron 165.

If memory affect CPU score, then it would be no surprise. I am having big difficulties at the moment getting the memory to run at decent speed.

That could be the case. I have corsair value ram at 3-3-3-8 and suprisingly 1:1 with the fsb of 220mhz so no multiplyer. Are you running dual channel and at 1t?
