Hi

Ive just upped my machine a bit more since I last posted on these forums and my current specs are as follows

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 - 10X333 @ 3.33ghz
2gb Corsair Dominator DDR2 6400
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX @ 620/1000
2x 150gb Western Digital Raptor X RAID 1

Now im currently getting around 13,500k on 3dmark 06, Im looking at putting in 4gb Dominator DDR2 8500 into the machine, how much difference will this make to my 3DMark score? anything you can see which could be changed/improve to up my score more? Im running a fully updated copy of WindowsXP Pro, windows in installed on the 300gb RAID array, the 500gb drive is filled with MP3's (20gb free) and the 120gb drive is a backup for my work files

Thanks
Mike

No, i think your score is pretty good and will be difficult to get higher scores, one thing that you can do is to OC the Cpu

Hi,

I have OC'd the CPU to [email protected] from its stock 9x333@3ghz although I may try to take this higher tonight when I have some time to play, I must say however the process is nuts allready outperforming any CPU ive tested to date, quad cores at 3.33ghz is intense. Im looking at some water cooling now as my temps are idle at 30deg and under load at 44deg, I think I will go ahead with the memory install for now.

Does SLI make a big difference to gaming & 3dmark scores? performance over 40%?

Thanks
Mike

from what i hear SLI isn't really worth it, soem games support it and yes you can look at a between 30 and 50 % increase. What res your playing at?

Hi,

So I can see 30%+ increase from an SLI setup? Im an enthusiast Im not really concerned whether it is 'worth it' because all Im after at the end of the day is making my machine better, Ive just ordered the RAM and will be fitting this thursday, tempted to upgrade my mobo, ram and go SLI when DDR3 is working fully ... Im currently gaming on a 24" Samsung TFT @ 1920x1200.

We will see I suppose, in the meantime anyone else got any ideas? suggestions? tips?

Thanks
Mike
