No there are s939 ones:

152 = 2.6ghz
154 = 2.8ghz (fx57)
156 = 3ghz

wonder what they clock to - bet they are crap clockers and dont come close to an fx57?

Do you mean in overclocking potential? I say that because the 3Ghz opteron is faster at stock than the FX57. Also these are server chips, so they have lower voltages and the like, i'm sure we'll see some good clockers, for those that can afford them anyway....

Obviously overclocking potential. also they use the same voltage as the other opterons and all opetrons are server chips. There will be the odd good one but i reckon it will be more like the old athlon xp cpu's where the 3200's didnt clock very high as they were already running near their limit. The 156's will still hit high clocks but doubt they will be any higher than some of the reallly good 148 opterons or fx57's. Until people start buying we wont know though

Have there ever been Opterons with the multipliers unlocked like the FX series?

Yes - a guy over at XS managed to get a couple unlocked from a relative working at amd. There is a way of unlocking them apparently by plugging them into a special made circuit (see xs) but no one seems to have managed it yet apart from amd although some of the geeks would have managed it by now if it was possible for everyday users

are the FX processors good clocking athlon 64s and X2s with the multys unlocked or are they optys?

just a thought but if they're not opties... wouldnt it be good if AMD did actualy make FX optys?

or if mobo maunfacturers like Tyan got together with DFI to make multi prosessor 940 socket mobos designed for overclocking? *dreams* just imagin the power of 8 overclocked opty cores x_x *drooles* you can already get 4 opty cores on one tyan board with SLI but i dont think anyone's tried it for gaming yet =/
