And Im still on my first. Honestly, what are doing to them?? :p

Yeah, very strange how many are on their first still and literally had no problems, and then there are people on their 4th etc?!? Very strange.

i know dont understand it, i dont use it that often either. nope very carful with it just sits under tv flat never touch the console unless im changing disks.

Maybe thats actually the problem? Mine has been used reguarly for the past 12 months, not over used but its had a good life thus far. Maybe its like an old second hand motor, and needs a good thrashing once in a while :D

possibly ill play it solid for a couple of days then probably not touch it again for a fortnight. it seems to start locking up first then fails

Aye, thinking the same thing. Mine gets used almost every day, either for games or DVDs and hasn't so much as hiccuped since getting it early January.

My first one still works but it does have problems. Crashes and disc read errors happen quite a lot...

My launch 360 died a few weeks ago. It was used most days for nearly a year with no problem - not a single freeze or dirty/unreadable disk error - then suddenly it was fubared. The replacement is working ok, but i'm getting the occasional freeze (Oblivion and GoW) and the dirty disk error.

They don't make consoles like they used to.

I have a launch 360 core and it has been fine. Although being fair it has only seen a lot of usage in the past few months. Its quite frightening at the rate in which these consoles die though

Perhaps people on their 4th are getting refurbished ones back from MS, rather than new ones. And perhaps the 'refurbishing' isn't very good. If that is true then it might be that once you have one failure, your chances of subsequent failures are much greater.

I'm still on my first (launch day console).
IIRC there was a thread a short while back where people posted their mfg. dates and mine was the earliest  must just be a lucky unit I guess!

EDIT: here it is (thread)

I'm on my 4th 360. The ones from MS died within weeks, some dodgy refurbing going off! Anyhow my latest one was swapped at the store and all is well. :)

had mine since 2 nov 05 and still working without any probs and played for min of 2 hours everyday even with gears of war didnt freeze so touch wood cant imagine what torture you doing to your 360's .

well it was collected yesterday so should be back end of the week start of next. ive got to say ms have a quick turnaround but would be nice not to have return it in the first place

Well that fills me with confidence.

I was already thinking there's no way my refurbed 360 was going to last as it's done various dodgy things since I got it back.

It even crashed the very first time I loaded it back up!
