I'm pulling my hair out on this one. I got my Sammy Galaxy a year ago, with Android OS v2.1. As far as I'm aware, it has stayed the same version, with no sneakily updates running in the background. When writing texts, I have always been able to switch between 3x4 and Qwerty keyboards. As I'm registered partially sighted, I work much easier when I see 12 buttons on the screen instead of 26 smaller ones. In fact, Qwerty is almost unusable to me and so I really want 3x4 back. Normally, there was a cog button and if you long-clicked it, it gave you the keyboard layout options. What it does now instead is give me a tutorial on 'Swype'. If I go into Android settings, most of its keyboard options there have also been replaced by Swype. I did Google it but its answers only seem to relate to a later OS version than mine. I searched 3x4 on OcUK here too but no hits. Any tips much appreciated.

Time-wise, it happened yesterday, like the flick of a lightswitch and appears to be irreversible. It also happened to one of my mate's Android phones, so I'm beginning it was afterall some OS update installed behind our backs.

Where you normally type in any text 'press and long hold' and an option will pop up. Select input and then select the samsung keyboard. Failing that i can resend you the samsung keyboard app.
