£4,000+ for a GPU - Madness !!

The thing is... this won't..

I'm not sure that when the new fabs come online, demand won't have kept up with them. IDK, I'm not an expert but. Silicon may stay expensive for a while.

I think there's some AI skepticisim, maybe a small bubble bursting, but this isn't just going away. God help us all lol. We may have a lot more to worry about than GPU prices soon.

I remember HDDs shooting up massively about 15 years ago (maybe not 100% but certainly over 50%), there have been periodic crises with RAM production (not just the recent one) and of course the crytpomining boom around 2021 where basically any good gfx card was sold out at retail and second hand cards were going for big bucks. I sold a 4 year old RX480 for more than double what it cost me brand new for example.

Not any time soon. Now is the time to play all those games in your steam backlog you've been neglecting and make sure to give your graphics card a little kiss good night every evening to keep it's spirits up so it soldiers on and doesn't die.

That was usually natural events that caused some of these issues like the HDD issue was flooding in them countries or earthquake or running out of water where these foundries were. These issues now we have been going threw are all man made issues like crypto and A.I.

I’m sure OCUK would VERY quickly find one somewhere to post out if they suddenly had 1.2m in the bank! Gibbo would be on the first flight to Taiwan to pick it up personally…
 
I play one game BF2, on and 8700g AM5 rig, prices are ridiculous but does not affect me one bit,. have at it cowboy semiconductor industry.
