That's because they're shooting in poor lighting, camera shake during 3 x 1/15s exposures will cause ghosting.

In decent light (where you're most likely to get high contrast, where HDR is actually useful) it's not really an issue.

I'm not in the best signal area but my O2 3G is a lot faster than my T-Mobile 3G ever was.

The headphone controls still work fine for me. iPhone 4 here.
