4 GB Memory suggestions.

Just been looking on Corsairs site. They recommend you don't put more than 2.1v through them (but they would have course) ;)

Interestly enough are some of the recommended settings for these modules such as:

MCH = 1.65v
ICH = 1.2v
tRFC = 52 :eek:
tRRD = 10
Rank Write to Read Delay = 10
Read to Precharge Delay = 10
Write to Precharge Delay = 10

tRFC is the tricky one since a lot of motherboards don't go past 42. Apparantly either leave it on auto or set to the highest setting.

It seems that one of the keys to successfully overclocking this ram is the tRFC due to the high density of the ram chips.

I can't remember what my mobo settings adjust to but I will be having a play with them tonight.

I'm still stuck on 400 - it it won't boot on anything higher :(

I haven't tried any of those other settings though so I think that might be worth a shot? How do you find the MCH value in Windows? In the bios its set to normal...

Cheers ;)

will the OCZ do 4-4-4-12 @ 400mhz?

tossing up between them and the corsair greebo has pointed out as i've just RMA'd a set of ballistix and want to move to 2x2gb (maybe 4x2gb) instead of 4x1 to avoid the ballistix merry go round of death.
I've got the set in my sig - they do 4-4-4-x @ 400mhz completely stable but the good thing is that I'm guaranteed to be able to do 1000mhz if I need it. Not bad for £55.

I have left tRAS at 15 because I can't be bothered to tweak and test.... I'm sure it will easily do it. My system is fast and stable as it is, so that's all that matters.

I've slackened the timings to 5, 5, 5, 15 and kept 2.1v going through them and I've been able to creep the fsb up to 422. So far all is good :)

I also had to increase tRFC value from 36 to 52? My Gigabyte board would allow up to 255!!!

I raised the mch value by +0.1? I still can't find a reading for that though, either in the bios or in Windows :confused:

Going to test it all out this avo and hopefully by this evening I'll have my e8400 back to 4 GB.

thnx bro

yeh they look nice for the price - might as well load up for 8gb while the price is down and run me a few more VM's ;)

decided to go with 8gb of 6400 C5 team group ram for just over 100quid, good for 1000mhz apparently also......lovin the cheap DDR2 and team group is nice stuff generally.
