4 Pin CPU Connector with 8 Pin Socket

Hi Guys,

I have an MSI X58 Pro and a Hyper 580w PSU. The Hyper PSU comes with a 4 pin CPU connector. I have read elswhere that it is not essential to have an 8 pin connecter plugged into this socket. Can I get away with not having a full 8 pin connector?

Yes you can get away with it.

There are two ways.

Firstly, you can buy a 4 to 8 pin adapter for pennies

or you can plug the 4 pin into the 8 pin on the mobo (furtherest right iirc ) but consult your motherboard manual first for orienation.
