I currently have two single port 30W Apple chargers but I'm looking to replace one of them with a 100W+ 4 port charger. Is there one which is a reasonable price? I've looked on Amazon but slightly overwhelmed by the options.

I'm also using that exact charger, and it's been solid. The only criticism I'd make is that for some reason, it absolutely refuses to charge my torch, on either the USB-A or the USB-C sockets. Everything else is fine, though

Some devices, I have a couple of Retro handhelds, only take those old, low powered chargers that comes with phones or like the original Amazon Fire Stick.

The dogs collars have little lights in them that don’t charge with a normal USB-A to USB-micro but it does work if I use an old school multi charger cable thing.

Ironic that it actually has a USB-C port on it.

Interesting, both - I'm using an old Apple Watch charger with the torch and it seems to be fine, so I just need to remember to keep that one around. I used to think that USB was just USB, but apparently it's not as 'universal' as the name would suggest :p

There are like the old style transformer in them, then there is like PD charging? then there is the new GaN charger....I am not 100% sure on the difference besides on size, heat, amount of power but I found some devices that uses on the old low power ones won't want on the newer ones.

Yeah, not the case anymore. Think it was alright with older devices any charger would do.

It doesn’t work on the opposite end of the scale either, like trying to charge an ipad with one of the 5w chargers it doesn’t even recognise it now.

It’s similar to the USB-C cables now, i’ve noticed they’ve started stating what they are rated for now which is great. I’m just guessing that the multi cable thing I have just completely restricts the flow that it’s low enough to charge it.

I've had 'not charging' messages on one of my iPads when I plug it into a phone charger, I think.

I'm all in favour of standardisation, but given the complexity of what is ostensibly one 'standard', it does make me wonder whether using the same plug for everything is really the best idea. Having said that, maybe this is just teething trouble as everyone moves to USB-C :)
