Wanted to buy a 2nd 7970 lightning today for xfire reasons, didnt, becuase when I bought my last card 5 days ago I paid £360

Suddenly the price increased by £40 to £399 wtf man, I mean I bought when there was a deal, from £380 to £360, now its £399,

Why would they increase the price on a card that a year old and getting older, especially when 8000 series is coming out in a few months.

Id hate to buy elsewhere but im not gonna pay £399!

Yawn. If you don't like the price, buy something else. Be thankful you got your first one at a good price.

The point is why would they increase the price to 399 from 380, it was always 380 as ive been looking at them for the last 2 months, lets se if I can grab a b grade from somewhere....

Perhaps they won't be getting anymore in until they get stock of the lightning BE and are just getting as much money for the last few cards that they have in stock.

Pricing has been erratic at best as of late for the Lightning, I suggest you sit tight until the BE's hit the shelves.

its a 'boost edition' version with higher stock clocks, from what I can make out its just a new bios, which should in theory play nice with the current Lightnings. They MIGHT OC better but only time will tell.

How come you guys have thousands of post's? do you chaps work for overclockers?

I mean 5000+ posts, you must do this from work, home and iphone while on the move,

must be some sort of incentive, I notice some one else had like 12000+ which is pretty high, I mean you guys are not doing it for the free delivery:)

It looks worse because you saved £20 in the first place.

Look at it another way:

£380x2=£760

£360+£400=£760

If you want it, buy it, if you can afford £380 in the first place, then suck it up, pay the money, and be thankful loads of guys in OcUK forums offer help when things go wrong.:p

:)

I was thinking exactly this ! it is the same darn price that he was prepared to pay before the deal....

If you buy the second card you've still saved £40

As for the ppl with thousands of posts-

They give up their free time up to help and guide others from their experience and have probably helped thousands of forum members out.:)

After all, isn't this what a forum is all about

Some of us like to discuss technology and (shock horror) even help out others on occasion. Crazy concept I know...

Exactly.

Doesn't matter where you post in this forum, or the topic, there will always be someone willing to help you.

So you can afford £720 but not £760? Wish I had that much disposable income!

As for why the price has increased? well maybe they are selling better than expected or they can't get any more stock in for awhile so will put the price up and take advantage of people willing to pay more, after all OCUK are a business, if you don't like it shop elsewhere.

It's DFS sofa sales tactics....make you think you've got a good deal when you don't really.
