hey guys, Im wondering, I have to use the 4:3 letter box view atm because Im not sure how/if I can get it to use the full screen.... when I press 16:9 it fills the screen but stretches it so it looks shabby. and the catalyst just doesnt seem to like putting it to hdtv mode even though its a 1080p tv :S it just says "mode not supported" its an old radeon 9550 if you remember those lol ;) is there anyway I can do it?

4:3 on a 16:9 display will have borders on the left & right hand side.
If you can't get 1920x1080 60hz, P working try disabling DVI high frequency output.

His screen could be a true 1080p, I've seen "mode not supported" on my 1080p, when sending 1920x1080 on older ATI drivers with dvi high frequency tick box enabled.

its connected to pc via vga :S will that matter? and in settings it only offers upto 1080i :S this is what options I got....

choosing any of those displays forces a loss of signal and the 1600 resolution is the highest it will go :S

yeah that was often a cause of problems with lcds

op: what lcd is it? vga should allow you 1920x1080/60hz fine, providing the tv is capable of it over vga AND has the necessary EDID information (what the graphics card gets all the resolution and timing info from).

Just manually put in the resolution instead of using that? Powerstrip lets you set custom resolutions...

Edit: My bad, the LCD might not support it

I managed to get it to say resolution 1920 x 1080 but the desktop goes way off the screen :S and tbh it looks stretched also :S

when I look at my monitor properties, it doesnt list my tv, it says "not supported" :S

There should be a overscan slider. Use HDMI #2, name the input to "PC" and set Home Theatre PC mode to "on" on the Samsung TV.
