40' lcd monitor and a ati 9550 :S

I dont think its a tv issue though as the proportion displayed on the screen is the correct size

its the screen size displayed from the hardware, not only is the 1080p not available to select, but if I force it from right click -> properties -> settings and choose the 1080 setting there, it shoots off the side and I have to drag my cursor over to move windows to view the other side of the desktop. I dont think thats a monitor issue is it? but then again why cant it get my edid info? :S
 
Your sig states you have a 3870? Try that card on the tv and see if it makes any difference. If it works then I would say its a graphics card issue. Worth a try anyway?
