£400 AMD APU system

Hiya

I haven't been keeping up todate with components for a few years and am wondering if i could get some advice the best spec to get for my son to play team fortress 2 on medium and settings at 1080p

£400 budget, looking to get onboard graphics to put him on until i can get him a nice GPU, the built would consist of tower, keyboard mouse and components. No monitor needed.

Not so good at minimum stuff but i think this will be better than the AMD apu system and will give you options to upgrade cpu and gpu when needed.

On TF2 yes, but that processor will probably bottleneck with any newer game. i would personally add another £200 or more if you could to the buget and get a newer processor which would love that new spangly GPU you are thinking about adding at a later date..
I personally would go with a Ryzen 5 1600 build, i have one here paired with a gtx 1060 6gb and it spanks tf2 and all games i have tried at max settings :)

Is it possible to replicate the above system in AMD at £400 with a mobo that will accept the ryzen 5 1600 at a later? Sorry if i am being awkward i just want to make sure i get it right the 1st time
 
you could go with a ryzen 3 1200, but the ideal card to be paired with it, for max performance, is a max of a gtx1060 6gb, anything higher you would not see any definative performance.

There could be an intel equivalent to this but i am not clued up on that side of the pond sorry :)
 
I would go for an Intel onboard graphics option @ 720p till you add that nice video card. You can assemble a better core build like that. Then add the card for a nice 1080p bonus later.

Note the Coffee i3 is now quad core, same as previous i5.

Would keep an eye out for a slightly better 550W PSU such as Corsair CX grey label (not green) with 5 year warranty. Can be found for under £50.
