Hi. Could any one Suggest a good gaming rig for £400? All i need is the CPU, Motherboard, Memory, video card, case and power supply. I have all the rest.

Thanks

A 6300 will be better than the i3, unless you are playing Skyrim exclusively. Thats the only game i know of that really struggles with AMD CPU's. If you are not playing it, the 6300 is the much better option

^nope.

and as said I wouldn't choose i3 over FX6300 in a £400 build, unless I know for sure that I'd be replacing that i3 for i5 or i7 soon.

that said i3s are great chips, but too expensive, if bought new.

It's for my Dad for Christmas and he likes to play games like call of duty, battlefield games like that.

Out of interest, is there a good benchmark/reference point somewhere for CPUs for gaming? I've currently got an i3, and want to replace it with something I can overclock - but I'm finding it hard to justify the bump up in price to an i5k. I'd have to replace the motherboard either way, since my current can't overclock.

ETA: Sorry for the hijack - thought it would be relevant to the OP as well for his comparison.

Keep an eye on the B-grade section. I built a £400 PC for my brother yesterday, and managed to grab a 7850 for £90. Much better than a 7770. I also used a FX 6300.
