This is what i came up with:

noise isn't too much of an issue, but i think the delta would be taking the urine ;)

Only think im not too sure on, is the motherboard, is this one of the best p35 boards?

Cheers for your input guys (and gals)

Looks good Viper.

All the P35 Chipset based board are great, reliable and have great overclocking potinal.

I would personally drop the Thermaltake Ultra and get the Tuniq Tower and since that comes with its own fan and is just as good as cooler. Then with the money you save from not buying a serprate fan i would go for thid mobo:

Heard a lot of good things about it. Also the layout of the board is very nice, as it is with a lot of ASUS boards, but thats all down to persnonal preference.

Thats what i would do. Though nothing wrong with that spec at all. :)

Can't really complain for all that under £400.

What PSU does your friend have? And what will be the main use for his machine?

Are you looking to overclock his machine - as you have some quite decent overclockable parts there. The process would be ace if its a 0 stepping and the memory you can't really argue with.

Heh, the p5k was my 1st choice of p35 based boards actually :D

He doesnt want to wait to upgrade, thus getting the B3, and doesnt really wanna get parts from different places (can't get the ram from his 'usual' supplier :()

His main use will be for gaming and encoding, and yes, he will most certainly be clocking :D He's got a 750w silverston psu i believe.. definately up to the job anyway (i told him to get the corsair.. but he just wouldn't listen...)
