Hi all,

I've had my 400D since 2006 and the past 9 months+ id noticed my legit 1 canon battery had been on the blink for some time. Id charge it and get about 100 shots sometimes slightly more before id see the replace battery pack. So since then i've bought 3rd party ones off ebay and the same things happen with them also! LCD is 30 sec , i do use AF and shoot in RAW. & use 1GB/4GB/8GB cards

Anyone have any recommendations of what i can do? Would a battery grip solve my issues?

Does a battery actually go flat? Maybe its reading every battery voltage wrong.
I took 66 shots over a whole day & used the screen a lot & the battery dropped from 100 to 95%, but thats a new genuine battery.

I let the battery(s) go to the point where they say (RED) replace battery pack. If i take the battery out and put it in again it gives me 1 bar and then dies 1-2min later. I can then put a fresh one in and it will drain within 20-30min I can't pinpoint where the error is.

ebay batteries can be rubbish, try some decent 3rd party ones from 7dayshop

Done just that £6 - see how it goes!
7dayshop Compatible Canon Digital Camera Battery 1500mAh

Well even with the 7day shop battery its still fail at keeping battery life. I bought the camera in 2006 so i think its had its time now. I their any repair shops that maybe could take a look at it?

Just randomly looking at the specifications for the 400D

STORAGE
Type
CompactFlash Type I / II (Microdrive compatible)

I have a 1GB -Sandisk
Sandisk Extreme III - 30mbps
Trancend 8GB 133x

Would the speed of the cards cause big battery loss also?
