4080/4090 ROG Strix White Edition - anyone managed to grab one?

As of right now:

WORKS
timespy 4k benchmark and stress test
unity enemies
COD MW2 + benchmark
tiny tinas wonderlands benchmark + walking around (only tried it for like a minute tho)
halo infinite - completed one full quick play match no issues

DOES NOT WORK
new world - wont even open, gpu spikes to 100% load for half a second and game freezes
league of legends - within 5 seconds of entering an actual match, the game crashes with an error window saying something about windows restarting my graphics driver.
forza horizon 5 - made it 14% through the benchmark race and it froze, crashed, and closed

checking more as we speak and will keep updating this list but unfortunately league and new world are my most played games so this kinda really ******* blows.

Okay if your gpu is working in benchmark and certain games then the Gpu is 100% working so that leaves an nvidia driver conflict or windowns conflict.

I have had this problem before years ago. I don;t play new world but I am long term veteran of league of legends and have seen this issue before. Tried repairing it before but the problem persisted so just did a fresh install. Can't remember if this fixed it or not.

Isi it possible for you to test it in a second PC or a friends PC. Also I notice you run the formula with a 13900k did you update to the latest bios and update the ME engine in bios and in Windows?

i can definitely try that but that could only fix one game. debating trying a clean install of windows but dont wanna waste the time doing it

My girlfriends pc but i dont think her psu can handle it. That mobo turned out to be defunct in some way, lights would come on briefly and lose all power so I bought a z790 hero while I was at micro center (ew black) and thats the only reason the pc is even usable right now

League said it was fine and didnt need a repair so im trying a reinstall now - for what its worth, i play tft and didnt try that because i figured it would be no different

you can hotwire a spare power supply into the 4090. Don;t junk that motherboard yet. I have that motherboard in another PC. I would be more than happy to go through it with you. Did you bios flash it before installing the 13900k. I am pretty sure it won't boot if the 13900k is in the socket. Your best bet is to flash it without a chip or with a 12th gen in it.

The only motherboard I would consider is the z790 apex as that is closer to white than the hero. I haven't had a black motherboard/all black setup in years.

I am not gonna lie I care not for the non white Asus strix range. Orignally I wanted one of those lovely Asus power supplies with the power read out. But the OCD couldn;t let me do it. So I got a white strix psu. I have tons of asus strix white edition stuff.

Update: i forgot to mention for league i am currently playing in tutorial with no issues, earlier had like a 50% chance to play in practice tool with no issues, 0% chance to not crash when doing either a custom or matchmade game on howling abyss

Update update: gpu just spiked to 100% load from like 35-40 in tutorial and game immediately crashed and now its giving me a screen ive never seen before saying "looks like your game crashed please wait while we fix things"

The mobo didnt work. It had a sticker added onto the box that said it was next gen ready but when testing parts at micro center the techs couldnt even get it to post with a 12th gen chip

It seems like the cause of the crashes is this mystery 100% load spike. It's so frustrating

That is very bizarre as league hardly uses the gpu and still hits high frame rates. Have you updated the ME engine in windows. And what bios are you on for your z790

No me update, but micro center had me update to whichever bios is the newest for this board today

Man, even just navigating the league client I got a 100% spike and it froze for about a second. Wtf is wrong with my gpu?

so microcenter had you update the bios but not the ME? I think you should consider that...

a lot of the newer Asus bioses has Me engine firmware updates. But you also need to upgrade the Me in Windows otehrwise they conflict.

Yeah I've been into pc gaming and pc hardware etc for like 4 years now and somehow I have no idea what that is

It is always on. When you press the power button it kicks in before bios starts. When you turn off it is still on. I am not sure why they had to make things so complicated.

got league working by turning on v sync and dx9 legacy render so im just gonna try to chill and destress for the night lol, havent been able to really game in days

@GoRedwings19 After seeing Strix Mountain (lol) can you see if there are any visible differences in the cooler/shroud between the 4080 and 4090? I'm considering picking up a white 4080 (which are in stock) and then swapping the shroud with a regular 4090 strix that I could get here Stateside. The PCB isn't white on the inside, is it?

it is exactly the same size and dimensions. The only boards that I know in the Nvidia cards that are PCB white is the Hall of fame cards.
