4090 pre-order?

it's a good job the 3080/3070/3060Ti were pretty damn good value for the generation, it'll last the buyers over this ****ty priced one!

Yes the 30 series MSRP was great value, but how many got one? like many i spent the generation looking but not getting. I got lucky with an Xbox Series X on launch and my PC remained un-upgraded for the longest time in my adult life.

Now I'm in a position where that money for upgrades has sat there and got to the point that I have the cash to get a 4090 and a top of the line processor, but the usual step back doesn't offer the savings it used to.

To use a car example, when i bought my car i couldn't justify the RS5 over the S5 cause the extra cost wasn't worth it to me. This time round the real 4080 to the 4090 looks to be much more of a boost compared to the 3080 to 3090. Guess we will have to wait and see for those benchmarks.

That or sit it out for RDNA3. after waiting all this time I'm itching for a new PC but no need to jump the gun.

you don't want a sweet profile pic?

The handle of my OCUK mug snapped off when I picked it up spilling boiling coffee on my keyboard and my lap, Was only a cheap £30 rain forest mechanical but I did manage to save it... my right leg however was a little tender for a few days, TLDR... don't buy mugs from a computer retailer :D

RMA that bad boy, or was it out of warranty period? :(

2 years later you can almost live that dream

Well I lived the dream last December but with a 3080 Ti FE!

Still wanted a 3080 FE but they were the proverbial rocking unicorn poop.

The extra 2GB of VRam was so worth it for the extra £400 though, was able to lord it over the 10GB (which was never enough) 3080 peasants for months. :p

i got my 3080 for £750 inc postage so im happy with that even if i was crippled with only 10gb vram and had to sit in the queue for 7 months :D

Yeah the real 4080 should have been around £800 , the real 4070 about £650 and the 3080 dropped to about £450. Nvidia can GTFO, many have the money but not into mugging ourselves.

How is 10gb not enough vram for people? I maxed out at 4K Cyberpunk, Resident Evil 8, Elden Ring, FarCry 6, Spiderman, Metro Exodus, Control, Mortal Kombat 11, God of War etc and never had a problem once.
