Uranus hehehe
Battery is charging at the moment but so far so good, the 70-200 2.8 indeed does get better results than the 350D was able to but below f4 it's still too flary for print usage or selling photos so I'm going to sell it and get the F4L IS :D

I love the shutter sound, it's just way more pleasing than the motory sound of the 350D :)

The 430EX seems to give better results on the 40D as well which was surprising.

:O I had a 350D not a 30D hehe !

I really do want to keep the 2.8 but selling it will not only give me some extra cash but also buy the F4L IS on top. Someone with a full frame or something will probably get better use perhaps who knows :)

nice purchase can you give me some sample picks on how it handles noise?

Heh yes we did indeed :D

I'll post some ISO samples up in a moment, I'm not used to having more options instead of just 100,400,800 and 1600 !

Raymond, I'm expecting around 150 for it at auction end on the Bay, who knows maybe more if people get bid happy!

£150 for the 70-200 2.8 ?

LOL! I thought you meant the 350D! people would probably kill to get the 70-200 at that price! I've started the auction today at 850 and it already has 11 watchers, I'd expect it to go for no less than 950 minimum really and I'd be losing around £135 from it but at the same time getting the £100 cashback from the 40D offer and £75 from the 70-200 offer so I guess I'd lose a minimal amount in the end.

Do you think it was worth while upgrading? I'm thinking of doing the same (350d at the mo) and with the cash back offer it's a good time to do so. How much did you get it for if you don't mind me asking?

I got it for £629 so with CB it's £529.

I would say it's 100% worth it and for me these were the things that sold it:

1: The body, so nice in the hand with a light lens or heavy lens it's not an issue
2: On body controls, no more fiddling in menus for key shoot parameters
3: The wheel, it just rocks if you shoot a burst in AF-H drive mode to see the motion captured in speed
4: The AF speed, able to pick out and lock onto the smallest details in shadow areas where the 350D could not
5: Battery life, I can shoot a whole session on one charge now instead of having to swap batteries.
6: High ISO performance even after using in camera sharpening is excellent

40D then 30D for body/handling or 40D then 450D for features/IQ (both use digic 3)

Congrats to your new purchase.

Can't believe how cheap it is after the rebate. Why Canon even bother with the 450D! there is only £100 difference.

In that sense indeed I agree, there's little point in the 450D with £100 difference between them, even better after cashback, until July of course!

With the cashback offer, the 40D is infact cheaper then 450D. maaaad!!!

I'm sure the cashback offer will comeback in September-October and again in Dec-Jan.

cheers for the samples - will have a look when i get home in more detail!

I have noticed one really silly thing though, if you enabled High ISO noise reduction in camera your buffer limit goes from 17 in RAW to 6 !! I mean what the ff is all that about!!

I also found some CF functions that are of no logical use like reversing the dial direction and swapping the AE Lock and AF-ON buttons !

As for anyone looking at the 40D, ignore the official 6.4FPS spec by Canon, it's a fake!

The 40D is in actual fact +8fps on a 66x CF card!!!

I was at 1/640sec so you'd probably get another image in there at 1/1000sec, I lost one image shooting at 1/200sec in a 2nd test so this would confirm that!
