Hi i ran outboard up yesterday (first time this year) have changed plugs and oil and now it sounds sooo noisey. It runs sweet plenty of water circulating, had it running for about 15 min and it didnt get louder or quieter. Any ideas please

Outboards are generally very noisy!

It may just be because the prop is out of the water (if you're running it using a hosepipe or something)?

Hi
its a honda 40hp 4 stroke year about 2000-2002 no idea of running hours, what ever was not working correct is ok now. It was very loud for about 30 seconds today then went quiet again, maybe with being lay down in boot of car.
Thanks

Sure you know this already, but be careful laying 4 strokes down on their side, should be a label indicating the correct side.

Laying the wrong way can result in oil leaking from the sump and ending up on filters etc and worst case into the cylinders.

helpfully someone at my boat club turned mine from the correct side to the wrong side last year

Yes had it out on water both times once nice and quiet second time rattled it head off,
Thanks i took it to our local boat place he is going to strip it down and have a look, he thinks it could be @@@@ in the oil pump or in a oilway.
cheers
