At the second i have a 8800gts 640mb

im willing to spend £430 for a new setup, do i get a new GTS SLI setup, or an ultra??

Im a very competitive gamer, mainly bf2 but love call of duty4! I want better graphics performance so i can play offliners like crysis with a mcuh better fps.

aswel as call of duty4, and bioshock, the new rainbow6 game coming out. ect. Im looking to keep this setup now till the new intel socket and bf3 is out. so i want this graphics setup to be a gooden

I could get another gts 640mb on the bay but understand the new 512mb gts is a lot better and uses less power by a lot. So i want to sell this 1, get 150 for it or something and spend get either 2 new slis or an ultra

VSync for me is a must, aswel as at least 4x aa and 8xaf. And the fps for me HAS to be a smooth 60fps. not 1 single fram drop. Im also going to oc my cpu when i get the hang of this mobo, just to let you know

youll never get a graphics setup that can do that, vsync should not be used, especially in FPS games, it causes mouse lag, the SLI GTS setup will be faster than an ultra if its the 512MB GTS, otherwise i'd get a GTX instead of an ultra as the performance difference is minimal

Hmmmm, if you had no card or something really crappy I'd be all for splashing out but the current card you have will play almost everything decent (even if it is the old GTS) bar Crysis and nothing plays that decent anyways so wait till the next gen tbh.

Unless of course you want something like a 3870x2 which will play Crysis slightly less crappy but not in any way fantastically.

If you really must have something now then I'd say go for a sli or crossfire setup. Dual 8800GT, 3870 or a 3870x2 and add another when the drivers arrive. 8800 GTX is only like £250 or something now too but they're getting on a bit.

the best i can recommend is to wait untill the new nvidia range comes out and see how they wager. at the moment stick with your GTS, its not a bad card.

I would suggest a 3870x2 in cross fire but your motherboard is SLI (and 2 cards are £500 plus currently)

You seem to have a good card there and the performance gains you should get spending that amount of money will be minimal. You can wait for the next gen cards to come out and if that cash is burning a hole in you pocket you can invest it in improving some other aspects of gaming like getting a new set of speakers and stuff like that.

Pointless, there is no point upgrading becuase you wont get what you want. Save the cash for a next generation card whenever they appear.

You dont need SLI for smooth gameplay. Also you havent said what res you game at. Any rez up to 1920x1200 is within the capabilities of the GT/GTS/GTX/Ultra or 3870X2.

The Ultra is hugely expensive for no great gain over the GTX. With your budget get the GTS or the GTX.

If you keep getting drwn back to BF2 all the time then wait for Nvidia new offering coming soon .

I swapped my 8800GTX for 2x 3870 512 MB in x fire. I could not get 8xAA to work properly and flying jets , choppers was a nigtmare ,frames dropped below 20fps with AA turned on , playing with 1900x1200

I have binned the 3870's and bought an Ultra to tide me over .

When are these new cards supposed to be coming out then? yeah i think i shall wait for them... unless i could use the evga 90day stepup programme???

btw im playing at 1680x1050 sorry for leaving that out

Isn't the step up only valid for 90 days after purchase? Also, i 3870X2 would do you, save you quite a bit of money over an ultra, it'll play everything at max settings except for Crysis

get new 8800gts g92 save other money for upcoming new 9**** series or then sell 8800gts and get new card you will loose not much money or just buy two new 8800gts and do same thing
