4670K Overclocking

When it comes to Overclocking I'm classed as an "Extreme Noob"! lol

Ok, I've only made the following changes the UEFI.

Multiplier to 43
Core voltage to 1.25V
XMP Profile 1

And that's it.

Benchmark with IntelBurn, passed without problems.

Few hours gaming on BF4 then I get BSOD error 124....not enough vcore

Do I need to change anything else? or just increase the vcore until it gets stable?

EDIT: Also, my Bus Speed always shows 99.98Mhz in CPU-Z, is that right?

Doesn't BF4 BSOD on stable systems?

What is your uncore set at?
Do you have Intel turbo enabled?
What is your LLC set at?

When you run a stability test, have CPU-z open and monitor your vcore.

A good stabilty test is to run Handbrake encoding video for an hour. I find that Aida64 and the like can handle on OC, but Handbrake can crash within 15 minutes.
 
Yeah don't touch the bus speed.
Sounds like you need more Vcore to me, its quite common to hear systems passing stress tests then failing in games. I've had it myself, hence now I just use stress programs to find max temp.
Obviously keep an eye on temps.
Let us know how you get on, as its not always vcore. I wouldnt go over 1.3v personally on my cooler, I'm running at 1.255 as thats's what Im happy with and its stable, to get the extra 100mhz needs quite a bit more vcore to get it stable, so I didnt feel it was worth it.

Well, it's not the most stable game to play on, but it's the first time it blue screened with 124 error.

Everything else is set to Auto.

Uncore: 36
Intel turbo : Disabled
LLC : Extreme

That's a base line that I use, everything else is trial and error with vcore / multiplier. 1.25v for 4.3 seems a bit high.

What temps are you getting, and what cooling are you using?

You don't have much more head room for upping vcore with those temps. Why not shoot for 4.2 and get it stable?

Uncore: 34
Intel turbo : Auto
LLC : Extreme

An evening of stress testing and it was 100% stable.

Temperatures 70c under stress, 50c under load.

Think i'll leave it at that for the time being, see how it goes.

You're welcome. I just noticed you asked if uncore was cpu ring voltage, obviously you realised that it isn't!? :eek:

As I say, with those temps and cooling with air, I don't think you want to shoot any higher than 4.2.
