I have quite a mild room. I'd say its about 22c in here... who knows.

All I have running at the moment is chrome (6 tabs), spotify and HWMonitor.

I have a push/pull on my cpu.

Coolermaster TX3 plus an Arctic f9 fan pulling.

And my temps at the moment of typing are 37c :/

Seems high to me, my 2500k at 4.4ghz was always about 25c with a H100

and thats pretty much idle at stock

Hi ,

Have the same CPU so can add. I have not used that cooler so can't comment on its performance. But it seems mid range air cooler that's about right. Have you enabled the intel speedstep or eist as it's know. It should drop down to 799mhz while on light load with a mild temps drop.

I currently use the h100i and I'm getting temps of mid 20's at the moment. Around 30 with a bit of internet tabs open. Though previously I used a quality small form cooler from noctua. It's temps were higher like yours around 30-38degs.

It is hard to compare your previous 2500k ( soldered chip ) running h100 and the new pasted 4670k on a mid range air cooler. But honestly, nothing seems alarmingly out of the norm.

I just thought oh wow thats a bit high and the only time I ever saw 60c was full on gaming an the chip was overclocked... I'll have a look at that speedstep.

Is it a Bios option?

Hi mate ;)

Yeah it's in the bios. It should be enabled as standard on an Intel CPU, though some disable when overclocking etc. personally I always leave it enabled. It's possibly enabled , you could check cpuz and see what it's idling at ?

60 in gaming is not a problem, so would not worry too much tbh :D

***EDIT**** - just had a closer look at your hwmonitor pic you added. Lowest voltage is 0.7v roughly. My guess is the speedstep is enabled.

If your not using it, and using your 280x then yes by all means disable it. Though tbh dont think it would have a big effect on your temps.

Just a thought, what thermal paste have you used to seat the coolermaster cooler. ? Im currently using AS5 and the Noctua NT01 as i have some left over. I would recommend and only buy MX4 now personally. That might help. :)

I have that CPU and a Arctic Cooling i30.

It was idling around 30-34c and upto 70-75c in games. I delidded it. It now idles at 17-19c and in games around 60c. I used mx5 although I do have some liquid ultra to try.

I have read the Coolermaster coolers are not that great.

Due to the new RAM I bought being too high for the i30 I have bought the new NZXT X41i AIO water cooler so will see how it goes with that.

I think your temps are a tad too high but for haswell chips with their poor TIM probably about right.
