Right..As part of my new build I am planning to spend ~£470 on a graphics card(s) Now can anyone tell me what would be a better..Spending £470 on a good 8800gtx OR buying 2x 512mb 2900 ATIs in crossfire (motherboard only supports crossfire btw)

Any unbiased thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated!

A single slot solution is always less trouble than a double slot.

Go for a GTX. A standard one would do you fine at the proposed resolutions, so you've plenty of room in your budget :)

I'd probably get the GTX, save the rest, sell the GTX at the end of the year and get one of the newer ATI or Nvidia cards.

Yer i know but 2 of them dont equal 2gb of vram thier still split up and each gpu has to have the same textures so games that need more than 1gb of vram(very unlikely) Wont have any where to store it.

well, 2x 2900xt 1gb's would be nearing £700  .

A single 8800gtx is a safe bet. Can get an pre overclocked one for like £350 now and then clock to ultra speeds yourself. The 2900xt is still a little dodgy when it comes to AA and certain games and a 2 slot solution allways seems more hassle unless money is no object.

The 8800gtx is the more matured and faster card. I am very pleased with mine.
