4770k overclocking guide?

got my i7 470k with asus formula vi board at 4.4 with 1.265v stable with the 8 pack settings.

But wondered is it normal for the voltage to be constant 1.265v even when the system is on idle? and is it safe for 24/7 use?

Completely safe but you can enable the advanced power saving features in the bios and the Vcore will drop along with your 4.4Ghz.

If you use off-set voltage it should reduce when the CPU clocks down at idle.

I have the same/similar board so it should be just a case of first saving the profile in case the changes you make turn out to not be as stable.

Go to "Fully Manual Mode" at the top of the voltages on the Extreme Tweaker page. Change it to Disabled. Then next to the CPU Core Voltage, select Offset Mode, make sure the Offset Mode Sign is + and then you want to put in the box a value that will bring your voltage back to 1.265v. This will obviously depend on what your CPUs VID is but you can use trial and error. I'm using about 0.130 Offset voltage for example, you'll likely need a bit more.

Can someone confirm if any of 8Packs settings above are named anything different in a Gigabyte Z87 Bios? im going to apply this clock tonight, i can run my 4770k on the Autotune thing to 4.5 and it doesnt go much over 60c while gaming but i know the Autotune thing overvolts so hopefully i can get 4.5 stable a lot cooler.

On gigabyte boards cache voltage is known as vring voltage. Another is vccin, this is the asus term. On giga boards it is known as vrin, this is the initial cpu input voltage. Aside from that theyre all pretty much named the same. This guide below is based on gigabyte boards but the other voltages are named the same as on my asus.

hi guys another question.

is 1.3v the maximum i can use on the 4770k?

i tried running 4.5 on 1.29 but BSOD during gaming.

My system is watercooled.

Thanks 8 Pack

will try 1.3v on 4.5

yes i dont bother with prime. i am testing by just playing games and using programs that i use. Only bench i use is Heaven for GPU clocking.
