4770k Overclocking

Today I upgraded from my trusty 2500k to a 4770k and am having troubles OCing it.
I'm just working with VCore and CPU ratio at the moment and am having trouble getting it stable at 4.3Ghz with 1.34v

Have I just got a dud?

It seems stable at 4.3Ghz with 1.35v, but as you say that's quite a lot of voltage.

What's the max recommended temps for these chips?
This chip's temps are scary for me - I'm used to seeing under 60C

I'm seeing a max of 84C after about 20 minutes of p95.

They all differ. Mine easily hits 4.5ghz, but after that I have to give it a silly amount of voltage. Prime will get it to 85C, but nothing I use it for gets it above 65C.

I'd need over 1.4v for 4.5

I was strongly considering the 4820k. Kinda wish I had stuck with the idea.

I've got it at 4.3Ghz with 1.3v. Has been running fine for around 6 hours now so I think I'll keep it at this

Runs in the high 70s in prime, but noway near that in applications.

Tried 4.6 at 1.375v, stable for 3 hours in prime95 at 77C MAX, second I open a program, crashes ):

I'll continue seeing where I can push my CPU once I get the H100 back and working.

Damn that sucks mate. Can you get it replaced under warranty?
