I'm trying to overclock my 4790k to a frequency of around 4.5 or 4.6GHz, but I'm confused as to what the voltage should be, as well as the frequencies of the cache etc.

What do I set my adaptive voltage to for these frequencies?

Do I leave the cache frequency and voltage on auto or change them to something else?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Try 45 multi without any adjustment and take it from there, I can managed to get 4.6ghz at +0.05 v on the adaptive voltage.

Can leave the cache voltages are default, only adjust this if you are looking at raising the cache ratio

Tbh raising the cache shows very little gains, though at stock my board overvolts it quite a lot. 1.2700, ive backed it down to 1.200 without issue.

Just wondering to get one of these and thinking how much better it would be over my i5 4670k. I keep reading that if you are going 980 SLI you need an i7.

I am just about to swap out an i5 4670k for an i7 4790K so I am happy to do a couple of before and afters. Any particular tests that you want to see?

3dMark 11 Basic Edition Benchmark gave the I5 a score of P17690 (my GPUs are twin Radeon R9 290s). Graphics score 28905, Physics 8142, Combined 8225

Thanks but check my sig already done it. Massive boost my 3dMark 11 score is now 22000+ up from P16000

Currently not OC'd it or my 980's yet dont feel the need. My MB on Intel Boost gives it 1.23v so I reckon I might have got a good OC'er too.

Windows Experience Score with the I5 was 7.7 overall with the processor being the most limitng. This stayed at 7.7 after the upgrade. WTF? Maybe I had the I5 overclocked when I ran the previous score

I run 1.30v for 4.7ghz, it will game at 4.8 but give it any kind of synthetic test and it falls over. however @ 4.7 its happy to run anything 24/7. However i am running mine on a custom water loop 1.30v on air might get toasty.
