4790k still worth buying?

Within a month, Skylake will be the same price as the 4790K, this includes motherboards etc. DDR4 is also dirt cheap.

It's just the first month where stock is limited that the crazy prices happen. Once the madness is over in September, the price will be 4790k level.

If buying new (including having to buy new memory) Skylake is a nobrainer, once it's the same price as the 4790k. Faster, much better chipset (Z170). Though if you already have a 16GB high speed DDR3 kit etc, then a 4790k becomes a valid choice, imo.

Very good point, I'd say it might be worth holding off for another couple of weeks if possible and seeing what happens with Skylakes prices.

But then DC chip prices could also drop when Skylake gets cheaper, I guess.

DC chip will not be available forever, I'm assuming production has stopped on them a while ago.

If anyone is planning to buy a brand new 4790k, for example if they already have the high speed/capacity DDR3, then I'd buy one sooner than later.
