I’m looking to upgrade my 4790K /Z87 Asus Hero & RAM. I use it primarily for Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom, no gaming.

Ideally need:

  1. New motherboard with plenty of SATA ports (I have 6 internal hard drives connected so need these connected).
  2. CPU (happy to wait for 14th gen)
  3. RAM - 64gb
  4. CPU cooler

I would also like to retain my Seasonic 750w platinum PSU, NZXT case & 3050 gpu.

Budget £1000

I would wait for the 14700, if you can, since it is supposed to have more cores than the 13700.

The Riptide has 8 SATA ports, but I don't know if it supports flashback for 14th gen CPUs with an unsupported BIOS.

OCUK's 64GB selection is pretty limited at the moment.

What model is your NZXT case (for CPU cooler size)?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £827.92 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Thanks for the reply.

Will keep an eye out on BIOS updates for that m/b, with regards to 14th gen compatibility,. My case is an NZXT H440, old but functional at the moment.

The Pro RS is another option with 8 SATA ports, they might do some kind of update to the board so that it is clear it has out of the box support (e.g. V2), but I haven't seen anything announced yet.

The cheapest option would be to get a peerless assassin, but it looks like your case supports AIOs of 240, 280 and 360mm, so I guess it depends how much you're willing to pay for it.

If looking at a AIO the Thermalright Frozen Notte 360 BLACK ARGB Water Cooling CPU Cooler is well worth a look. Currently it's only £54.32 which is a steal for a 360mm AIO but the price goes back to just under £68 in five hours so if you want one be quick. The block has a infinity mirror on it which looks great. There is also another Thermalright AIO called the Frozen Prism 360 which comes in White, Black and ARGB varieties ranging from just under £56 to just under £61.

I have the 240 Notte on my 5700x, even under full load never hits 70c. I was tempted to upgrade to the 360 Notte, purely because I have space for a 360 and currently have 3 fans then the 240 radiator, but cant justify spending £50 just for what is effectively a small look in an area of the case that isnt easy to see anyway.
