Looking to wall mount my TV in the lounge and am using is as an ideal reason to change from my 6-7 year old plasma. I currently have a 42" screen but with the size of the bezel, I recon I can get away with a 48-50" ish screen for the same size.

Not going to get into 4k at this level and not fussed around 3d so looking for very good HD/SD performance.

What do I look at?

I'm looking to do the same as my 40 inch Samsung packed up. Not interest in 3D or 4K either but the PANASONIC VIERA TX-48CX400B looks ok.

Samsung UE48H6400 can be had for £500 at the moment. It is the TV I have and I would recommend it without reservation.

In that price range you can get 55" TVs if you have the space.

The Sony 55w829 and a Samung UE55H6400 are generally regarded as the best buys for decent 1080p TVs - both get good reviews. Both around £650 atm.

EDIT: Ignore, just seen the post above.

Unfortunately the wall I'm having to mount it on is the smallest in the lounge so can't go bigger than the current 42" plasma chassis. I could maybe go to a 46ish but would need to measure carefully
