48 hours without sleep.

longest I've gone is 40 hours with no sleep, everything becomes more difficult, and you realise why it would be so dangerous to drive for example after so little sleep.

Is it true a person will die if they go for a week with no sleep, yet live if they go a week without food?

Me too, did a day a night and another day and I was lucid dreaming in lectures o.O

No one knows because no one's managed it. Your body just shuts down for small naps if you try it, some really strange "scientists" have experimented with mice, and got a month or something like that before they died although that may be hearsay

i used to have extreme insomnia, i went for 9 days with no sleep at one point, started to see **** after 6 days, i thought it was fun for a while till i saw some wierd stuff, (pink hippo in a tutu...dont ask!) eventually i fell asleep while eating a full english breakfast....i still never got to finish it lol

I have just gone through 48 hours without food, and that was a dreadful experience and not one I ever wish to go through again! Sleep on the other hand, well I could probably handle 24 hours awake then I'd flag.

Longest ive not slept for is about 9days.

Had 3 weeks off work so me and a few mates stayed up for 9days straight just doing anything we could find.

Think I did 45-50 hours a couple of times during end of A Levels & HND to get work completed, was on a sugar/caffeine rush for most of it was fine after a good nights kip though.

Can remember 'zoning out' a lot towards the end, just day dreaming randomly for a few minutes.

I contracted some form of stomach flu on Tuesday morning and the first thing I've eaten was some dry toast today! The only thing that passed my lips was water mixed with some electrolyte powder to counteract dehydration, worst illness I've ever had.

Longest i've gone straight without sleep, 5 days.

I worked a ridiculous amount of overtime that week, nights mainly, plus college work. I was actually hallucinating slightly by the 3rd day, but it's not like I can phone in sick and say i'm trippiing balls. By the 5th day I actually felt like I was dying, I thought I was going to collapse and die.
I got home from work, decided the floor was a good enough place to sleep and crashed out in the porch.

Really? I used to have some pretty bad insomnia phases, and don't really member any of the stuff I did, especially towards the end of the sleepless periods. Generally I keep going until lunch at home then sort of crash after that until about midnight depending on how long I've gone without sleep.

I generally struggle when I don't have much to do, but get through fairly easily when there's something occupying me.

I am on 48 hours awake with 2 hours sleep somewhere in between thanks to a Uni project. You dont realise it , but for example, my driving to get a bacon and egg mcmuffin this morning was absoloutly stupidly dangerous, just cant concentrate

I used to stay up for two or three days at the weekend, every week. I don't think it's so difficult as long as there's someone to talk to. As soon as the conversation stops I kinda crash!
