Hi Guys,

i don;t know if anyone has ever had this before.

I'm trying to get my gf's 480 up and running, however, during driver installation, I get a black screen then i hear windows losing the device and then nothing. The only thing the card does is spin up once for a second then idles again

I have to hit safe mode and wipe the drivers to get back to windows.

Any thoughts?

I've updated the mobo bios and am re seating the gfx now.

thanks

Update

f you are using an Ultra wide monitor and are coming from Nvidia (using DDU to wipe drivers first) you may need to plug in a 1080p monitor whilst installing the 480. Once the drivers install, you can use your ultra wide without error.

Well make sure the power is properly connected, decent PSU is it?

All else fails reinstall windows or try in another rig to confirm if the card is faulty or not.

Try to source any hdd/ssd you can install windows on to confirm whether the card works with a fresh install. SO you don't have to ruin your win installation for no reason.

It's a dead card. My own rig which I cleaned with ddu fully also fails to install drivers.

I'll rma tomorrow. Second time this had happened with amd and me :(

what compounds my frustration is that windows 10s recovery screen is the most useless thing known to man. When trying to select if I want to restart to safety mode it kills the usb slots, so I can;t pick.

machine powers down.

Strange, you are either real unlucky getting another duff card or there is something up with both rigs.

Might help to list what the system specs are.

yep, ran the live update thing from MSI, gonna run it again.

it's really odd because without drivers, it works
