480 installation issue

It only works for me if it says Microsoft Default Display Adapter in the device manager, if you have used DDU then it should. Do you get the package failed to install message, it hides behind the installer window but if you look at the task bar it has a second icon which is the error dialog.

I couldn't tell as the screen stayed black.

changing to 1080p output and going to try again

Its the monitor.

The card doesn't work with ultra wides.

EDIT - Turns out it does work with ultra wides, when the drivers are installing it doesn't seem to detect the ultra wide monitor. If you stick a 1080 monitor in it detects that, and then you attach the ultra wide after.

*facepalm*

I got a 480 today and installed in in my second pc using the same display my main pc uses and did not have any problems, i will try and install using HDMI.

To clarify - The ultra wide didn't work when I was installing the driver with ANY kind of cable in any port. It was only when I connected a 1080p monitor via HDMI (this monitor doesn't have dp) that the card detected anything and finished the install. Once the install was finished, I was then able to plug in the ultra wide and get it working via both dp and hdmi.

I don't need to update windows, it's working ok for the time being.

I think with that youtuber, he installed the card on a none UW monitor and then plugged it in, which works fine.

Literally if you did not have AMD drivers on your machine when using an UW monitor, the driver install fails.

yeah, must have had a **** fit, or my cats did something (they like to get behind the monitor and may have touched the controls when I was on the loo )

Currently benching a couple of games in 1440p for people who asked and it seems ok for now :0

It's the daftest thing I've ever come across , as I would assume monitors should have no bearing on this.

I've had a similar problem with a 960, running a 2 monitor setup. I've had to disconnect one of the monitors and only plug in one, then plug in the other one after drivers were installed.
Glad you got it to work in the end, hope the card runs well :-).

over 40fps on witcher 3 with mostly high settings.

Freesync will make this more than playable :)

with only high setting at 1080p witcher 3 should be running around 60fps, unless you have hairwork and supersampling enabled, and maxed out filters

GTA v benching around 30fps with msaa x4 and most settings very high.

Few tweaks and I'll be in the 40S with ease
