Heello.

Got a little question re my 4850 (HIS 512mb)

My Specs are in my Sig, the thing is, when i play a new(ish) game like CoDWaW or Fear2 or FC2 after about 3 minutes of playing my ati driver stops working and restarts its self, causing the game to close.

Before this happens sometimes i have a few artifacts/squares/blocks appear on the screen.

When i look at GPU-Z my gfx card is around 75 / 80 Degrees Max. (idling at about 40).

Anyone any ideas?

- im 90% sure its not my clock settings for gpu as it does it when i lower them. clock speeds are at 690 / 1088 (not as spec says) & i game at 1920 x 1200 :p

- old games like Wolf:ET run fine, no problems at all.

I am currently using a 500w psu and condisering my cpu/gpu are oc'd, i have 4 hdds, loads of fans, case lighting etc, anychance my psu might not be strong enough? - i hope its this cuz i want a modular PSU and this will justify buying one haha - atm i am using a OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent ATX2 Power Supply.

Also on the list is a new Gfx Card, im waiting to see the new 4890 :p

Thanks Guys

Adam

So are you still overclocking the card? or is it an overclocked version that you are sometimes overclocking more? My 4850 won't run at overclocked speeds for long. In games it does as you describe, even though the temperatures are low. When I had my antec 900 the GPU temps dropped loads but it didn't alter this one bit. Also, If I run the card overclocked, the first part of 3dmark06 stutters really bad.

Had the card since july and it works 100% at stock speeds.

Cheers for the replies...

its a standard card - the HIS version.

might try dropping it to Stock for a bit then :*(

might mean getting a new card :D + PSU :D = me happy lol.

tbh i haev the wrong card for "HD" gaming lol

might just get a new system completely lol. - just for a weekend project xD
