Running a 4850 in my rig at the moment, but it seems to be overheating as far as I can tell and the computer switches itself off.
I've just logged out of a game to see it 105c, and that's with the fan speed set to max :(
Would I be best off replacing the standard cooler?
Cheers

You could try reseating the HS with some quality gunk - i suspect it's not fitted correctly. It's the cheapest option and should improve your temps significantly if it is a badly fitted heatsink.

Is the card still under warranty?

yea i know from experience if your heat sink is covered in dust that will defo effect your gcard! mine was crashing out and after a blast its been fine

Took the heatsink off again and the cover off of it, the bugger was quite clogged up lol.
Seem to be idling at 51 or 52c instead of 75/76c it was before, so hopefully it'll sort it for a while :)
Thanks for the help chaps, couldn't see the dust build up untill I removed the cover.

A good clean and a HS resit usually cures heat problems in cards that have been in situ a long time.

Hopefully, you've sorted it - what are your load temps now?

Vortex neo gives me 30 deg idle, and 55 load, its amazing.

How quiet is this at 50% fan speed - audible? (i realise i'm asking a relative question - but just a general idea would be great.)

e.g. is it the equivalent/similar to the stock cooler at 20% speed?

My 4850 used to get to 105c, took it out and it was caked in dust, gave it a clean and it doesnt go above 85c now :)
