Just a quick question.

what's a safe vGPU voltage to run through a 4850 that i should never go over? It is water cooled.

at the moment it is @33c load overclocked to 730/1100 on stock volts (removed a previous pencil mod), DMM says 1.13V under load. i want to push it a bit more.

pencil mod is too fiddily and takes ages to get the right voltage so decided on a hard mod. I already bought a 100k VR.

1.158v is nowhere near enough for a decent clock.

currently @ 800Mhz with 1.25v with pencil mod... still loads at only 35c so can push a bit more

i run my 4850 with a mod bios. voltage at 1.158v and i can get to 760/1145.

i think 1.30v-1.35v hard mod would be safe

I should rephrase, 1.158v is not enough volts for me to play with.

I flashed to a bios but drivers don't work in vista 64.

If I can get a modded bios working, with the current pencil mod, I am hopeful for ~1.35v load. This will be less hassle.

Do you edit your own bios with rbe, or download pre edited ones?

One of my cards is overkill with 1.43v under load  and tops out at 890core. It doesnt want to take a pencil mod so i used a blob of conductive paint and therefore it has no resistance. Still going strong though under water.

My other card is around 1.34v and does 850 ok, i think over this voltage you get diminishing returns tbh.

yeah, I'll be happy with 850 MHz at those volts. What are you temps like for both cards devious?

I might consider conductive paint, bit never used it before, is it removerable? I much more confident with a solder iron tbh

Running furbench/crysis the 1.43v volt card gets up to around 43c, but this is with two cards and my cpu in the loop, so not too bad. The other card gets to the high 30's.

The conductive paint can be removed, ive removed it once just with my finger nail as i initially carpped myself when i saw the voltage , just like removing a tiny spec of paint. I then thought sod it and reapplied it :D

i edited my own bios with rbe. also i used a Signature file to up the overdrive limit to 800/1300..

my card is currently doing 880 at 1.35V...1.15v idle. Anything above that requires more voltage and isn't worth it.

well, I flashed bios with 1.158v and overdrive limit raised.

Together with a pencil mod, now get 1.278v load and rock stable at 800mhz GPU and 1100MHz Mem. 40c max load. Think I will leave it like that :)
